Reading the site
You do not need an account to read the guides. The supplied site code does not include analytics, advertising pixels, social embeds or fingerprinting scripts. It does not sell personal data or implement advertising profiles.
Delivering a website necessarily exposes technical request information, such as an IP address, requested path and browser information, to the hosting infrastructure. Hosting or security providers may process access logs for delivery, reliability and abuse prevention. These pages do not inspect those logs or specify a provider-wide retention period.
The science-note tool
Text entered into the contact console is processed locally in your browser to create a preview, clipboard copy or downloadable plain-text file. The tool has no message-submission endpoint and does not transmit your input to us. It does not save drafts in localStorage.
Your browser may retain form values through its own autofill or session-restoration features. A copied note remains subject to your device’s clipboard behavior. A downloaded file remains on your device until you remove it. Anyone with access to those locations may be able to read it.
If you choose to email
Sending email through your own email application is separate from using the local tool. If you email [email protected], your address, message, attachments and ordinary email metadata become part of that correspondence.
Correspondence is used to assess questions, corrections, accessibility reports and privacy requests, and to respond where appropriate. Relevant service providers may process it to deliver and secure email. Messages should be retained only as needed for those purposes, legitimate recordkeeping or legal obligations; no fixed automatic deletion period is promised here. Please avoid sensitive personal data and restricted material.
Browser storage choices
The cookie preferences page can store a single choice in localStorage on this browser. It is not a tracking identifier and is not sent by the site script to a server. The choice remains until changed, cleared by you or removed by your browser. See the cookie storage policy for the key, values and controls.
External sources
Following a source link takes you to an independently operated website with its own privacy practices. Our inclusion of a source does not give us control over its cookies, data collection, availability or content. Images referenced by these pages are local assets rather than third-party image embeds.
Your choices and requests
You may read without using the contact tool, decline optional storage, clear a saved preference, and contact us about correspondence you previously sent. Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of personal information, or to object and complain to a relevant supervisory authority.
Send a request to the editorial email with enough context to locate the correspondence. We may need to verify that the request concerns your own information. Do not send identity documents unless a proportionate verification process has first been agreed. A local draft that was never sent is not accessible to us.
Policy changes
If the site’s data-handling functions change, this policy should be updated to describe them. Revisit this page before using a newly introduced feature. No claim is made that a static website eliminates every privacy risk associated with browsers, networks or email.
